PURPOSE + PLANNING

Cairn is a trip scheduling platform for travelers who want to get the most out of their vacation, without foregoing their commitments and travel constraints. The web-app allows its users to add events they find interesting while recommending a schedule that works around their existing plans.

PROCESS + LEARNING GOALS

The design of Cairn aims to provide guidance to the user in a streamlined, yet engaging way. Since the purpose of the platform lies in quick, unburdened travel planning, I kept the design of the web-app image-forward, with a simple color palette that lets the interest of the travel destination hold the user’s attention through images sourced by the Pexel and Tripadvisor API’s. Through benchmarking sources like Airbnb and Google Calendar, I was able to isolate key parts of the UI to use in Cairn.

  • Performed lighthouse accessibility tests and contrast ratio assessments throughout the project
  • Created user personas to draft requirements of the software and understand traveler pain points
  • Hand-drew lofi’s in the early planning stages, before transitioning to digital lofi’s
  • Received and integrated internal team feedback on the color, layout, and type hierarchy of the design prototype
